Lost or Found Pet

What should you do when you realize your own pet is missing?

Visit the Carroll County Animal Shelter IMMEDIATELY

Stray animals are held between three to five days after they are picked up. If they are not moved up to the adoption area, they may be euthanized. It is necessary to go in person rather than call, because there are many animals at the shelter and the staff might not recognize your description of your pet.

Carroll County Animal Shelter

The shelter is located at 251 Automation Drive in Carrollton. Going North on Route 27, take a left at Columbia Drive and follow the red and white signs to the “Animal Shelter.”
Shelter hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 to 5:00; Saturday 8:00-4:00.
Shelter phone number: 770-214-3590.

Remember – even though the dog or cat isn’t wearing a collar, it may have been microchipped. Call the nearest veterinarian’s office to see if they have a universal chip reader. Or take the animal to the shelter and have them scan for the microchip.
